The largest universities in Columbus, Georgia, by number of degrees awarded are Columbus State University (1,924 and 45.6%), Columbus Technical College (1,703 and 40.3%) and Chattahoochee Valley Community College (391 and 9.26%). With the expansion of the city, leaders established Columbus College, a two-year institution, which later became Columbus State University, now a comprehensive higher education center and part of the University System of Georgia.
